Navarra

Located in northern Spain, and heir to the Kingdom of Navarre, Navarra (officially the Chartered Community of Navarra) is a region of geographical and cultural contrast, stretching from the Pyrenees to the Bardenas Reales desert.

It has a dense industrial activity, which spans from automotive industry to food production, with decisive national leading in areas such as halth and renewable energies.

Pamplona, ​​the capital of the province of Navarre, is a city in north-central Spain.
It is located in the south side of the Pyrenees, with the Atlantic Ocean being some 90 kms.
away. It has train connections to major spanish cities, as well as a regional airport with
daily connections to madrid, and non-daily connections to other destinations upon seasonal schedule.

Pamplona is best known for the Running of the Bulls (San Fermín festival) held in July, and world-wide popularized after Hemingway's Sun Also Rises.

During this legendary, multi-day festival, bulls chase daring runners once a day, early morning, through the city streets. Pamplona is also ​​a major stop on the Camino de Santiago (Way of St. James, a medieval pilgrimage route), being the first major city of this itinerary in its final Spanish section.

The city is also renowned for its Gothic churches, such as the fortified Church of San Nicolás. Being founded as a Roman encampment in the year 74 A.D., Pamplona has a rich cultural and historical heritage, having acted as a hub point for commerce and traveling between cultures and peoples in the now-territory of France and Spain.

Universidad Pública de Navarra

Most activities in the program will take place in the premises of the Universidad Pública de Navarrra (UPNA), in the Campus Arrosadia.

Campus Arrosadia is a modernist campus, desiged by renowned architect Francisco Javier Sáenz de Oiza, the location of most lecturing and research facilities in UPNA.

Information on the campus

Lecturing will be held in the Sala Nicolas García de los Salmones, a conference room in Edificio Los Olivos.

Lunch breaks will be held at the dining facilities of the Campus Arrosadia, located 3 minutes walking for the conference room.
